Whanda I. Shedina

Knox- Whanda I. Shedina, 91, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at St. Peter's Hospital. She was born in Gallupville, NY on June 27, 1923, the daughter of the late Wiley and Lela (nee Hotaling) Gage. Whanda graduated from Schoharie High School in 1942. She married the love of her life William Shedina in 1942; they were married for 61 years. She was the Tax Assessor for the Town of Knox for thirty years. She worked for the NYS Tax and Labor Department for ten years. She was very devoted to the Gallupville Methodist Church and held several appointed positions there. Whanda enjoyed needlework, sewing and gardening. She and her husband were dairy farmers their entire married lives. She is survived by her daughter Jo Ann (James) Corigliano and her son Wiley (Darlene) Shedina, her sister Wila Gilman and brother-in-law Martin Van Voris, sisters-in-law Rose and Ruth Przysiecki; her grandchildren Antoinette Corigliano (Anthony Kinnaw) and Melissa Corigliano, Nicole, Michelle, Justin, Adam, and Kendra, as well as several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2003, and her sister Waunetta Van Voris. Calling hours will be held at Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont, on Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 5-8PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 11AM at the Gallupville Methodist Church on Factory Street off of State Rt. 443 Gallupville, with interment at the Knox Cemetery in the spring.
